Some ways in which my experience and background will be an asset
Acquisitions & Contracting: I understand how contracts are created, evaluated, negotiated, and managed. That experience is valuable when reviewing city contracts, procurement processes, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.
Fraud Prevention & Auditing: I know how to identify waste, inefficiency, and risk. City councils oversee millions of dollars in public funds, so experience questioning expenditures and promoting accountability is directly relevant.
Accounting & Financial Oversight: Reading budgets, understanding financial statements, and making fiscally responsible decisions are central responsibilities of elected officials. My background provides a foundation for informed budget decisions.
Consulting: Consultants learn to analyze problems, gather information from multiple perspectives, and recommend practical solutions. That's exactly what council members do when addressing community issues.
Workplace Collaboration: Local government depends on collaboration between staff, residents, businesses, and fellow elected officials. My experience working across different personalities and departments prepares me to build consensus while still advocating for your principles.
Marketing & Communications: Keeping residents informed, listening to concerns, and communicating complex issues in understandable ways are essential for transparent government. My experience supports that goal and I've been actively involved as a resident for over 10 years.
Security & Disaster Preparedness: Municipalities must plan for hurricanes, emergencies, infrastructure failures, and public safety. My background and education gives me an appreciation for risk management, emergency planning, and resilience.
Remodeling & Property Management: This provides practical knowledge about building maintenance, permitting, infrastructure, property values, housing concerns, and the real-world impact of local regulations on homeowners and businesses.
Small Business Ownership: Running a business means balancing budgets, solving problems, complying with regulations, managing risk, serving customers, and making difficult decisions with limited resources. It also gives you firsthand insight into the challenges local businesses face.
I have been a resident of Deltona for more than 40 years. I have owned my home here in District 1 since 1999. I am a Deltona High School 1997 Graduate and later graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice 2005-2008. I enlisted with the Army Reserves in 2009 as an E4, however, I was in a motorcycle accident in 2011 and subsequently released in 2013. I have been of service to others by volunteering in the community since 2002 to include CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team), Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and Meals on Wheels. It's in my heart and who I am. I have worn many hats in my professional career to include acquisitions, fraud prevention, contracting, accounting, auditing, remodeling, property management, consulting, workplace collaboration, marketing, security/disaster preparedness, and currently a small business owner since 2020.
I am a bio mom to 3 grown children, a forever mom to 1 who has grown with us since just shy of 5 months old and turns 11 this year, a bonus mom to many, and a proud Nanna of 11 grandkids.
I was a young mother at 17- it changed the entire trajectory, of my life, but it only motivated me to work harder and reach for the impossible... I did just that. I bought my first home - here in District 1 - at just 20 years old and a mom to an almost 3 yr old.
It took Faith first and foremost, dedication and commitment to my child and his future, strength when you feel all the weight and uncertainty, and downright grit and hard work. Like many I grew up poor.. nothing was ever given, but rather earned...and I did it!! Growing up with barely what you need, not necessarily what you want, instilled so much into who I am now.
I never lost faith that my path would be clear and that I just had to put in the effort, dedication, and passion to bring it to life. It was a journey that was no longer just about me or mine alone but for another...for my child. I grew up often seeing acts of selfless service from my Dad... Always lending a hand when he could, how he could. I also learned about work ethic, taking pride in your work, being dependable, responsible... And that your word is EVERYTHING.
